In 2018, the Downtown Memphis Commission set out to create a master plan for Downtown that would dove-tail into the Memphis 3.0 process and build on the data and groundwork already laid by the city-wide planning process. The master plan was intended to provide a common understanding of both present-day Downtown Memphis and what Downtown wanted to become tomorrow. BuildDowntown was created to outline the primary vision-setting and policy-directing strategy to lead the on-going revitalization of Downtown Memphis for the next 10 years.
Pique PR was engaged to support public engagement efforts for the plan, ensuring a wide range of participation in the planning process and broad public support for the final plan. Our team lead the coordination, promotion, and facilitation of public outreach activities corresponding to each phase of the planning process; gathered input from residents on community values, priorities, and improvement opportunities; and solicited feedback on preliminary plan recommendations. Through a combination of in-person and passive engagement activities, Pique was able to reach an estimated 60,000 people county-wide throughout the planning process. BuildDowntown was completed in 2019.
